Our department is in constant interaction with public institutions, private sector representatives, and non-governmental organizations. University-industry-society cooperation is strengthened through visits, hosted guests, and organized talks.
Within the scope of our visit to the Giresun Governorship, separate meetings were held with Deputy Governors Mehmet Fatih Yakınoğlu and Alpaslan Altınışık. During the meetings, a mutual exchange of ideas took place regarding solution proposals for the priority problems of our city; furthermore, our academic and practical experiences in building performance analysis and disaster management were shared. In addition, information was provided regarding our department's accreditation process, and potential joint study areas within the framework of public-university cooperation were evaluated. We thank the Giresun Governorship and our esteemed Deputy Governors for their kind reception, interest, and hospitality.
Within the scope of our visit to the Giresun Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, a meeting was held with relevant unit officials, particularly Provincial Director Murat Cavunt and Deputy Director Ergun Altıyaprak. During the meeting, potential areas of study and cooperation regarding the performance analysis of structures in Giresun province, our department's accreditation process, and constructive feedback and improvement suggestions contributing to our educational activities from an external stakeholder perspective were discussed. Additionally, ideas were exchanged regarding internship, seminar, and professional information activities for our students, and potential joint studies were evaluated. Within the scope of our visit to the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) 10th Regional Directorate 104th Branch Chief, a meeting was held with Branch Chief Kadiri Altuntaş. During the meeting, cooperation opportunities and joint studies that can be carried out for our students were evaluated, information about our department's accreditation process was shared, and information was provided about our external stakeholder survey within the scope of the contribution of external stakeholder opinions to the process. Within the scope of our visit to Giresun Municipality, we held a meeting with Deputy Mayor Mr. Mustafa Uzun and our civil engineer colleagues working within the institution. During the meeting, areas of cooperation that can be carried out between our institution and the municipality, technical trip and application activities that can be planned for our students, and joint studies that can contribute to moving our department to a more advanced level within the framework of the accreditation process were discussed. In this context, the support of our municipality was requested as an external stakeholder; in addition, the first steps towards an advisory board planned to be established in the future with joint meetings to be held with other relevant institutions were evaluated. On the occasion of the relocation of the Chamber of Civil Engineers (IMO) Giresun Representation to its new office, we, as the faculty members of our department, paid a visit to convey our best wishes and exchange ideas. During the meetings; consultancy and training activities that our department can offer to the sector, professional events that can be organized for engineers, our students' chamber membership processes, IMO organizing information meetings for our students in our department, and collaborations that can be carried out as an external stakeholder within the scope of our department's accreditation process were discussed. We thank the IMO Giresun Representation for their kind hosting and hospitality and wish their new office to be beneficial.
On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Chamber of Civil Engineers and Civil Engineers Day, we came together with our colleagues in Giresun at a breakfast program hosted by Gezmişler Construction. Within the scope of the program, evaluations were made regarding the infrastructure problems of our city and solution proposals; also, a productive environment contributing to the meeting of sector representatives and the strengthening of professional solidarity was created.
